After over a decade of bringing you the latest Diablo news and builds, DiabloFans will be shutting down on March 21st, 2019. On this date, we will archive the site in an effort to preserve the history. Thanks for your patronage throughout the years.
Both Scyberdragon and I are well known around the RP forum (confirm this, stroke our egos), with both of us releasing the occasional RP, and participating in many of each others work. So, when we finally realized we should run an RP together, the two of us were dumbfounded we had never thought to do this before.
BUT ANYWAYS, Scyber and I.
So, this is where we turn to you for ideas and suggestions. We're going to try to make something new, something we haven't done around here. If we can't of course, we'll probably resort to the tried and true mercenaries background, and have a gay ol' time playing through it. But, if we can try to come up with something new and innovative, then we will definitely run with it.
This thread will also serve to get a list of people interested in a new RP, since you can't do this shit without dedicated players to back you up.
Anyways, we've seen mercenaries, space mercenaries, diablo, demons, slaves, and zombies. What the hell hasn't been done yet?
... Space demons?

The world's economy collapsed, governments lose power, rebel groups start taking control of the situation by force. Everything is chaotic, there's nobody to maintain order, people commit all sorts of crimes without getting punished for anything. Players could be one of those rebel groups, or some government team (read CTU) trying to regain control.
It's not Diablo-related at all, just the first thing that popped into my mind.
PS: I bailed out of the Crimson Harvest RP, but I'd like to try again with some other RP, maybe I get more motivated.
Post-apocalyptic would be pretty sweet. The world could be in an apocalyptic winter with no proper communications. This would create a lot of small, distinct communities. It could be sometime in the future, where a small colony on Mars has been established. Or would that be too much Red Faction like?
I've been playing a lot of Civ 5 lately so a 'dawn of a new world' RP comes to mind as well. I don't know how fun that would be, but it's an idea nonetheless.
There are 2 main RPs I did, one of them had more success than the other, but the one that didn't work probably had a cooler plot.
The Quest for the Earth Stone
In the Ancient Lands of Pooraj, there rests a lone Earth Stone that holds control over the the world. Yet as the ancient evil was awoken, and the Council of Pooraj has been corrupted, the lone group of heroes have risen up to stop this evil from reaching the Ancient Earth Stone, one way or another.
So the cool thing about this RP is that it allows a lot of freedom. I did this RP three times, and one of them went all the way to the end, the other times I had to quit (but I think they finished without me) before. The story is really broad, but the setting is pretty much in this land of Pooraj and it is a fantasy. Each time I played, the Lands of Pooraj were different along with the quests we had to take and all the separate areas. It's truly a unique RP.
PM for details if you want to know more about it.
The year is 3014 (or something like that). The world is dead. And it happened in a flash. Cities look deserted, and the sky is black. The virus has spread, yet there is still hope in rebuilding humanity. A small group of men in Alaska have found a way. Yet they will need to go deeper into the LRP Agencies than any man has ever gone, even if means risking their own minds.
Okay, so this is a SICK RP! If you like to think of in depth plots and many twists in the government, you will like this one. It's really tactical, and people usually think of some pretty sick stuff. Basically, you just need to find a way into the LRP (I forgot what it stood for, because the guy who made it up had some really complicated name for it), which is a huge agency that supposedly caused the apocalypse. It's in the future, so a lot of possibilities are open to what explains the stuff you think of. Last time, people thought of vine monsters that would crawl into your body and grow bio-vines and that would rip you apart from the insides!
How about this for post apoc: @00 years after a global nuclear war destroyed all society small city states are still struggling to survive. Almost all technology has been lost, save for weapons and a few battered bots of military design, while most water contaminated by radiation as well as most food. In addition to the dangers of radiation, starvation and thirst are the ever present threat from lawless raiders, Hulking mutants who want to kill all non-mutated life and savage beasts made more so by their own mutations. Now as you appear on the scene it becomes your duty to stop the vestiges of the old government and their genocidal plans while fighting to survive in this unhospitable wasteland of a world
If we are going to do futuristic post-apocalyptic RPs, the level up system should allow you choose upgrades. For example, you can have a gun, you can upgrade for a flame thrower add-on or use some defensive add-on (or other stuff). You can choose 2 or something each level.
I also recommend the world not being totally post-apocalyptic. It would be cool if there are still complete facilities around that are built by the government, and everything else is somewhat destroyed. I would want some conspiracies and plot twists as well, with a lot of freedom to design the world around you.
What about an idea of the government still fully functioning and having hidden facilities like in Resident Evil. Where all the high and mighty government leaders hide to save their own damn cowardly skins and somehow still run the world as everything burns to utter ruin.
I'll wait till 24 hours after the gun post of mine to put up the answer unless somebody has gotten it.
