Lag Spikes Recently

  • I've done an IP RELEASE, RENEW, AND FLUSH DNS according to Blizzard. And I'm still getting really weird lag spikes. I'm at wits end with this.

Someone recommended doing a trace route but I'm not sure how to interpret it and what to do after this point.

Tracing route to 24.105.30.129 over a maximum of 30 hops

  • Hey AnimalMan,

That Traceroute looks pretty solid, so I would like to get a more verbose connection test to see what is going on. Lets go ahead and run a WinMTR to see if we can capture this occuring. Just reply back with the results and we can go from there.
  • Hey AnimalMan,

How is your computer connected to your modem/router? I would definitely make sure to try switching to a wired connection and that should hopefully help with this.
  • With that amount of packet loss I would really lean toward it being a wireless connection. However if you are wired there may be something else on the network using a lot of bandwidth. I would power off/disconnect any other devices in your household from the network temporarily as well as performing a Selective Startup making sure no programs are running in the background using any bandwidth and give it a shot and see if that helps.
